My client wants to hang long rectangles of a printed silk fabric from rods (wood or metal) inserted in a top pocket with another rod in the bottom to cause the fabric to hang evenly. I don't believe I'd be able to trust glue to hold under these conditions.
Same here. Scraping of ink from the surface doesn't sound very good to me. Where did you glean this information? Also, the aesthetics of sewing vs. glue are rather hard to compare. I'd only use glue if it was structural and hidden by a frame and/or mat. Dharma sells 42" x 6' sample rolls of all of their fabrics, and sells the same ones as the manufacturer Jacquard, for a significant discount, but they don't list any swatch books on their site. Jacquard does sell their swatchbooks, however. I'm going to call Dharma on Monday to ask about the swatchbooks. I'd like to order several test rolls to play with, but would rather make an informed choice.
PS: If they are like other fabric vendors, 6mm is not milimeters, but mommes, a traditional measurement of weight. 6mm = 26gsm, and is really thin. Dharma sells from 5 to 23mm silks. The thin stuff, I would expect, would have an interesting translucent effect, but pretty weak dMax and color saturation.
<edit> I just noticed on the HP site that it is actually 6mil, which is 63.5gsm. That translates to 14.7 on the momme scale that Dharma/Jacquard use. <edit>
