are there any known issues with doing this?
so far, i love the manual feel and don't miss any of the chipped aspects. i just want to make sure i'm not going to screw up anything on my camera...
if this has already been discussed, please point me in the right direction.
A few issues in my experience with the 5D. Not serious but annoying.
(1) 5D continues to draw power when switched off, if the Nikkor lens is still attached. Battery eventually goes flat after a few days.
(2) Unable to auto-bracket exposure when camera is in Aperture priority mode. Exposure reading is way out. Have to switch to manual mode for autobracketing, after first taking exposure reading in AV mode.
(3) Aperture settings are to some extent guesswork. There's also no recorded information on which aperture was used. It doesn't appear in the EXIF data.
Some of these issues might be peculiar to the 5D. I decided to get a D700 for some useful features which the 5D lacks, such as faster frame rate, auto-ISO in manual mode and auto-bracketing of up to 9 shots. Additional DR and a slightly better high-ISO performance are also attractive.
