Any of you guys use any of the Nik Software plug ins for photoshop ?

Nik is clearly one of the leading plug-in editors these days.

Their U-Point technology is nothing short of revolutionary and works very well.

I have used NX2 on and off and recently also their B&W plug-in and find that they are very useful tools.

I've used Dfine 1.0 the Dfine 2.0 for years. 2.0 is especially good and effective reducing noise while protecting detail. I've also used Nik Sharpener for years, and after learning how to use it, really like Sharpener 2.0. Haven't upgraded to 3.0 yet. I tried Viveza -- wasn't impressed. I've also used Nik Color Efex Pro (1.0 and 2.0) for years. I like those as well, though don't use them as frequently as I once did. I also tried SilverEffects. Not bad, but I have Alien Skin Exposure 2, and I prefer that over SilverEffects. Overall, Nik produces very good, competent filters. If you're truly interested, simply download them and try them yourself. They all come with a 30-day trial, which should be more than long enough to see if they do the job.

I have the complete suite of Nix plug ins for Aperture and love them. I never used Photoshop often enough to become proficient and never got the image to the level of the vision I had of an image. These plug-ins help me accomplish that goal 95% of the time. Try the 30 day trial, nothing to lose.

Best idea, like was said and you did, try it.

I like the SilverEfx even though I've been making my living with Photoshop for some 10 odd years. Less fiddling to get me into the ballpark I want to be in and then of course I fiddle with it after running it, but closer to where I want to be with the plug-in, and faster.
