Hi to all,

I've just tested the ND filter on my new G10 and impressed by the results.

Why, because with a 3-stop ND filter, I tought I would loose a lot of dynamic range, but no it works perfect !

Even in low light conditions, no significant increase of noise even in dark areas.

Anyone knows how it is implemented, it seems to work with RAW files ?!

I'd wondered the same about the G9 - maybe it is effectively a lower ISO setting? - the 5D has a Low 1 setting that is ISO 50...

It's a physical filter internal to the lens / camera system. That's why there's no affect on DR.

With pixels as small as this avoiding small apertures is critical for optimum image quality due to diffraction effects.

My Canon G3 and G9 have the same ND filter. It sure comes in handy sometimes. I believe that the internal ND filter was introduced with the G3 and was included in all subsequent G series cameras.
