Affordable Foveon chip cameras?

Has anyone heard anything about the availability any time soon of consumer-grade cameras with the foveon chip? I don't have a digital camera— I've been waiting for around 15 months for the Sigma pro outfit to appear and then for other makers to digest it and start producing a range of different backs. I'd hoped to start seeing some in mid 2003 but it seems like it took quite along time for the Sigma to show.

Don't hold your breath

Also, be careful what you wish for. The Foveon chip has great promise, but right now Canon's technology offers superior image quality. The Sigma Foveon implementation (which is all we have at the moment) suffers from some colour issues, and it remains to be seen if they can be licked.
