DXO to support Canon G10 in January!
« on: December 17, 2008, 10:10:19 am »

Great news! DXO just announced on their website that they will be supporting the G10 in January (and the 5DII as well). For those of you haven't used it, it is, IMHO, by the best raw converter available. It works wonders for sharpening, microcontrast, chromatic aberration and lens distortion, and once you get used to the settings and interface (which can be a bit daunting at first), does so automatically. The DXO company profiles each lens/sensor at all fstops and different focal point settings to optimize the corrections. It will make an already excellent camera that much better. DXO is also excellent for noise correction -- again profiling each camera based on the iso setting and implementing noise reduction at the raw conversion stage. It should substantially improve the G10's images at iso 200 and iso 400, where they're already very good, but noise does also begin to substantially affect image quality. For example, I find that DXO's noise correction for my Canon 5D at iso 1600 and 3200 is better than neat image or lightroom for reducing noise.
