Strange effet in night image

Dear all,

The following image was shot casually with a Canon G10. The train is probably 6 or 7 m away from me.

Cheers,
Bernard

That's pretty much it. I've experienced similar, which a bus and LED's travelling past, with fireworks overhead. solid smooth streaking with the fireworks, but 'blinking' effect on the bus LED's... I'll have to find the image to show... It's from my lost archive of 2005. ~_~
The yellow is effectively the same thing too. It's being lit by the refresh rate of the light.

Was 1/6th, so it is probably more like 120 hz.

Hi,
You can see this phenomenon with many different types of lamps. For example many streetlights induce similar effects if the camera is moving during a longish exposure.
