A good year for Nikon
« on: December 08, 2008, 10:11:26 pm »

There has been a lot of discussion regarding the D3x pricing in this forum and elsewhere.  That discussion has overshadowed what a phenomenal past 12 to 14 months that Nikon has had.  I am one former Nikon film user that returned to the Nikon system, wooed by the D700 and left thrilled with the experience of using it.  The resurgence of the company was seen in those photos of the olympic press photography wells and in observations by folks like Scott Kelby who noted more D3s than other makes at a major league baseball game in his blog.  I was still surprised today to see a video on the Profoto lighting website today of Annie Leibovitz with a D3.  http://www.profoto-usa.com/news/press/pro8-leibovitz.asp  While of some interest to see her with a D3, it's also a nice short clip that gives a little behind the scenes look at her at work and how she works.

Let me know when you see Christopher Burkett with a D3x.  Then I'll buy one.

Perhaps Nikon will surprise with a 8 x 10 view camera.  No word yet on pricing
