HP LP2475w or NEC LCD2690WUXi

All-

I have read good reviews here on LL for both of these screens. I need to replace a rapidly waning Apple 23" Cinema Display. (No complaints -- it's a first gen CD from 2004 that has been a trooper.) The NEC is quite literally double the price of the HP. The question now becomes, is the NEC twice as good as the HP...?? I am thinking no...

Any insight is appreciated.

I think that is impossible to answer.  You need to see them both or at least put out your criteria for those that have.

You may have read in various threads on the HP LP2475W that I tried two units, the first had bad connections and was uneven in colour, the second was also uneven in colour to a degree I found I couldn't live with. Others appear to have had more luck. I exchanged mine for a Eizo CG222W which is twice as expensive but is much more uniform across the screen.

I have the NEC and love it, but of course cannot compare it with the HP. FWIW, while the list on the NEC is around $2K you can get it for $1.2K at Amazon.
