San Joaquin Freshwater Marsh Reserve
« on: November 07, 2008, 02:17:18 pm »

Here's a couple of photos that I took at the San Joaquin Freshwater Marsh Reserve in Irvine, Ca. It's about a 5 minute drive from UC Irvine. I'm curious to hear what you guys think about the photos and what I could do to improve them. The lighting that day was amazing and there were some beautiful clouds.'

canon 20d . sigma 70-200 f/2.8 . 70mm
iso 100 . f/11.0 . 1/90s

This photograph is made of 10 vertical (panned horizontally) shots taken at 70mm (112mm 35mm equivalent).

canon 20d . tokina 12-24 f/4 . 12mm
iso 100 . f/11.0 . 1/750s

For this, three horizontal shots were taken, panning down vertically and stitched together. It's about a 16.6 megapixel photograph, after stitching. The scene had a huge dynamic range. I had to really underexpose, to save the beautiful detail in the clouds. Boosting the shadows (treeline) really added lots of noise but it was the best I could do. Overall though, I am pretty happy with the photograph.

This is the last of my favorite three from the location, Thanks for looking. Any feedback is appreciated!
