Is there a version of this for the UK market or an equivalent? (Yair?) Ok, so I've looked on the web and UK prices are quoted at around £8000, what is the crop factor on the Aptus II 6 back with the Mamiya body, there's no mention of it on the literature on the leaf site - anyone know?

The 28MP sensor is 44X33 in size so this gives you about 1.27 X crop on the AFDIII. The Aptus-II 6 is listed just under £8K and an AFDIII body is £2K, an 80mm D lens is £600 (all prices ex. VAT) so altogether you're looking at under £11. Call Calumet (0207 380 4508) or Peartree (0207 033 7371) for a detailed quote.

There has to be a response from Phase One. Which is good, and also there will be more demand for Mamiya mount lenses and probably more new glass will follow.

I hope that the rumor of Leica lenses for this mount is also confirmed soon..

Yair

How integrated is the Aptus II6 back with the Mamiya AFD III body?
Do the back and body communicate with each other on a par with the Phase One version of the body and current Phase One backs?

the leaf back has the mamiya digital serial interface which means it connects and communicates with the mamiya body the same way the phase back communicates with the phamiya body.

The communication is no different from buying a Mamiya 645AFDIII and any Mamiya AFD-mount digital back from ANY brand.

Please see Michael's response on a similar thread:

There's nothing going on here other than a bit of corporate disinformation.

The promotion is not by Mamiya Japan, it's by Mamiya America Corporation, a totally separate company notwithstanding its name. MAC, as it's called, is the US distributor for mamiya cameras AND for Leaf backs.

They have put together a promotional package of the two products.

That's the full story. The announcement though makes it appear that the package is from Mamiya in Japan, the camera's manufactuer, (who as some may know is in a joint venture to make cameras on an OEM basis for Phase One).
