Here are three versions of one of this fall's pictures.

A:

B:
[attachment=8975:IMG_8100_3.jpg]

C:
[attachment=8976:IMG_8100_2.jpg]

I'm undecided as to whether I prefer black & white or colour, and if I like colour best, which of the colour versions that is.

Here's the original, as a result of Lightroom defaults, uncropped.

D:

I'm happy to take any kind of criticism, not just regarding what I think are my challenges.

(Yes, I did use a tripod, so the tilt in the original is rather embarassing...)

The first two look identical to me!

I prefer the colour shot: I have to concentrate too hard to find the detail in the B&W image. Perhaps it would look better with a bit more contrast.

Me too. I can't see any difference between the two color ones, but they both show the plant (weed?) much better than the BW. You might try converting to BW again, but lighten the green so the plant is lighter. Then I think I'd prefer the B&W.

The color version is the one I'd choose. I can't really see any difference between the first two photos. Try to play with different settings on the B/W version to see if you could give it more punch.

I forgot to thank you guys for your responses.

Yup, the differences between the two colour versions are subtle, perhaps not ultimately important.

Tweaking the white balance and the colour channels changed the look of the B&W quite a bit.

Unfortunately, I can't save the composition.  Nice exercise, though!

I don't care for the color ones but the post is way to light and the grass is too dark in the B+W version.
