I seek to jump into digital photography very soon with either a Fuji S-2 or a Canon 10D, which is about all that my budget allows.
Anybody got an opinion?
Well, it seems like you are at the envious position of making a rational decision based on your needs (and means) rather than your prior investment. So, given that, pay close attention to the overall SYSTEM proposition: Nikon, Canon, Fuji, whatever.
In the old days, when a better film was released, you bought a roll and reaped the benefits. Today, to accomplish the same change in digital, you upgrade the body - one #### of of an expensive proposition.
It is best to "lock in" to a manufacturers system that you feel confortable with regards to the entire system, then pick the digital body that fulfills your needs. You need to consider things like the manufacturer's strategic direction, depth of current offerings, reputation, etc.
You may not think this way now, but down the pike you will likely be upgrading that digital body to reap the benefits of improving technology. Wouldn't it be good to know all your costly lenses were transferable?
Think "system", then find the camera in the system to buy.
