Off shoe cord for 430EXII

Thinking of getting a Canon Speedlite 430 EXII to go with my Canon 5D. I still have an old Off Shoe Cord (original not 2 version), which used to link a T90 to a Speedlite 300TL. Will this provide any functionality with the 5D/430, do you think?
