I am in something of a dilemma re upgrading to CS4. Currently I use CS2 but intend to make more use of DPP due to its automatic abberation corrections with latest 5D firmware. I get along OK with a pre Core duo laptop but if that fails I almost certainly would have to get a macBook Pro, not least because very few win laptops have DVi outlet to my ACD. Without a current version of Photoshop, I can't get free platform change.

The only anticipated new camera is a G10, for which (free) DPP will open raw files but i'm afraid if I leave it too long, we'll be on CS5 and I may no longer qualify for upgrade. As far as I can see the only real benefits of CS3/4 over CS2 are the B&W conversions and the photo stitching software.

You can upgrade to CS5 from CS2. In general the policy is that you have to be within 3 versions.

CS4 adds 64bit processing for Windows users and 16 bit printing for Mac users. For both platforms it offers 3D editing, focal point compositing and many other new features.

You can upgrade to CS3 with a free CS4 upgrade until October 15th.

CS4 was just announced! Eric, do you know more than you're suppose to.....
