White Shading File for Aptus 75

I have just shot a series of architectural shots using Cambo Wide DS and Aptus 75. Unfortunately the Schneider 24XL had no center filter, and as such there is considerable fall off.  Before each shot i shot a white shading file using white plastic cover.  other lenses were used too, but the 24 is the where i feel the white shading file is most needed.

As i am not too familiar with the leaf software (11.1.1), what is the best way to create a white shading file? It appears the Brumbaer software is only for Sinar backs, but i was wondering of a similar solution for the Leaf back.

How are folks handling this with Leaf?

Go to the leaf site and download the "custom gain adjuster" program--it's separate from LC. It's very simple, you pick the file(s) to be adjusted, the "white file", a destination folder, and a percentage of fall-off adjustment--I think at zero it will only correct color-casts, at 100% it will apply full fall-off correction. A pitfall to watch for is increased noise in areas that were pretty dark in the original capture...Remember also that the "white file" must be shot at the exact same aperture and with the same movements you used for the shot you are applying it to. I'm sure Yair will reply more comprehensively. It's worth running some tests...

The Gain Adjuster is a stand-alone application that was used previously when these capabilities weren't available in Leaf Capture. With LC 11 this is now incorporated in the main software.

It is found under the Process tab. You select the Leaf Mos file type as your output, then select an output folder (which can be the same folder as your original Mos files if you want). Then click the Settings button which brings up a dialog to choose the white file and percentage of fall-off correction. Click OK and return to the main dialog. Now highlight the image file to be corrected (can be multiple) and click the Process icon. A new corrected Mos file is created in the location you selected.

Keep in mind this function has two effects; colour shift correction and falloff correction. The colour shifts show up on almost every file when you use wide angle lenses and/or shifts. Therefore you'll need to shoot white adjustment files for every new setup/shift position/focus point/aperture. In other words every finished shot. Its quick and easy and you get used to it. Falloff can be adjusted to taste.

OK - that all makes sense. On the shoot, the digital assistant was doing this by plugging in the back and using camera calibration file, but without the bag plugged in, this function was greyed out.

I was rather convolutingly using the stand alone next to Leaf Capture 11.1.1

Oops, sorry about the outdated info...I've been using ACR/Bridge mostly, so the custom gain adjuster makes sense workflow-wise, but  good to know its been internalized into LC11

what is the custom gain adjuster 1.2 for if it's built in to leaf capture?

I believe its to give you the capability to still do custom gain adjustments if you prefer to use third party software for raw processing instead of LC.

And yes, its incorporated in LC 11.2 as well.
