Interesting how Epson excluded the 3800
(system Requirements: To take advantage of all MyEpsonPrinter.com has to offer, all you need is one or more of the following professional printers from Epson:

    * Epson Stylus Pro 4880, 7880, 9880, 11880
    * Epson Stylus Pro GS6000)

So until a 3880 comes out, we're out of luck!

Does this mean a 3880 is "around the corner" or that MyEpsonPrinter is a tease to upgrade to a more "pro" model?

Epson do not consider the 3800 to be in the Pro LFP line up.
Maybe the replacement then will be a 3900 yet still not in the pro line up. Well we'll see in 2 weeks at Photokina.

I see what the value add is for Epson -- they get to spy on me (with my approval no less). At least it's an opt-in. I hope.

So... What's the value add for me? Does Epson think I'm too stupid to be able to see when I need to order ink? Or paper? Do they think tracking paper/ink costs to the last penny is actually interesting to me?

What I need from them is a way to keep my time down on a per-print basis. I need them to finally solve their clogging issues. I need them to eliminate my need for nozzle checks because I don't trust their printers/inks to not clog overnight. Or between prints. I need their printers to be faster without sacrificing print quality.

They are getting better over time, yes. But HP and Canon are providing stiff competition. I need for Epson to best the competition if they want to keep my business.

And I need them to support their printers with drivers for newer operating systems. I would much rather see them spend their programming resources on making fully functional drivers for older printers on newer OSes than on a spy website like this. Really I would.

Needless to say, I won't be using this website.

interesting also to see that the printer has to be connected via a network, not USB... leaving out a large portion of the user community.
