Can someone tell me how to add a pic on the left of my post, and how to edit my signature.

Click on "My Controls" at the top, then on the left panel...
 -> Click "Edit Avatar Settings" to change your picture
 -> Click "Edit Signature Settings" to change your signature

One little addition to note is that if you want a custom avatar it has to be store online somewhere so you can link to it.
