Commercial Photo Lab (Inkjet or C-Print)
« on: July 29, 2008, 08:32:58 pm »

(Apologies if this is in the wrong section)

I just landed a gallery project that requires me to print 40" x 60".  Just beyond the current reach of my at home injet printers.  So I find myself talking to commercial printers for the first time in 11 years.  After years of darkroom and now injet I'm having a hard time communicating with them.

I'm in Dallas but what is your favorite lab for making color C-prints or Inkjet prints?

I would like to find a lab that uses Epson's latest injet printers OR a lab that would be willing to set up color management between me and the printer and produce C-Prints.

This entry is as a result of dealing with BWC in Dallas.  They were unwilling to provide me an icc profile so I could soft-proof on my monitor with their printer.  It took an hour conversation to realize a particular difficulty was that they could not make custom paper sizes and finally they couldn't even answer questions regarding output resolution.  Their final suggestion was that I should calibrate my monitor based on the test photo that they made for me.  I could be wrong but I just don't see it yet..
