How best to keep flash light power pack?
« on: June 19, 2008, 02:22:32 am »

I have a Hensel Porty:

I don't use it very often. What is the best way to maintain the battery? Is it better to plug the charger in all the time or let the battery discharge and then recharge?

Hi Matt,

I have the Bron Mobil which seems similar.

The battery used in the Mobil is Lead technology, in fact I discovered it's actually a bog standard burglar alarm back-up battery when you take away the cover and electronics! These batteries are made to be permanently hooked up to the mains on trickle charge. I have two but only one charger so I plug them in alternately whenever it crosses my mind...one is always on charge. I've been using the same two batteries for five years with seemingly no loss of capacity. The pack doesn't get a huge amount of use.

If the Porty uses the same technology you can pick up spare cells for about £14 from a good battery specialist (sorry Broncolor!)
