Panoramic tips revisited

Have done some more panoramic shooting and a couple more questions have come up.

When shooting a wide panoramic landscape on a tripod my starting horizon point is  level but as I rotate on the tripod for further images it becomes skewered. Should I be compensating for this by re-straightening when required? Or is there something wrong with my tripod technique?

The plate on the tripod where the head attaches must be level, it's not enough to simply level the camera since without a lever base of rotation you'll get the problem you describe.  You can either adjust the legs or get another gadget, like:

I also have a small bubble level that slides into the camera hot shoe to level the camera (both base and camera need to be level).
