Mamiya 80mm and close up tubes

Mamiya sells 3 extension tubes that when all used together make the 80mm a macro with a 1:1 mag.   What I can't find out is what is the minimum distance for focus when all these are used.  The lens by itself is 70cm or  27 inches.

Just wanted to comment on your question about 80mm lens compared to 120 macro. With all the test I have done with customers looking at various high end MF backs, I can tell you that the 120 Macro from both Mamiya and Hasselblad is far superior than using the 80mm lens.

At a recent trade show we were shooting pictures of a bottle and the detail in both the label and cut glass was superior with the 120mm. We only had the 80mm the first few hours and then we shot with the new Mamiya 75-150mm, it was a big difference too. The next day we had a 120mm and it was even better. I know that this was also true when comparing a shot enlarged 30x40 in another test.

I had a client that was using P45 H and he shot a fine art image with 80mm with closeup. He liked it until he later tested this setup with my 120 Macro H. The fall off was must smoother. The 120mm macro had much more detail and the depth of field seemed to be much greater with the macro than the lens with tubes.

I will see if I kept that session before we left the show. I can tell from the RAW what lens it was shot with.

On the 120 macro, it's manual focus, but how does the metering work?  Do you have focus wide open, then stop down all manually? or will it auto stop down, like the Canon TS-E lenses do?

Mamiya's site claims it has a automatic diaphragm,  so I guess, you don't have to stop it down manually.

Based on your reply, do I understand correctly, that 75-150mm zoom is sharper than 80 mm?

Would you have the information at what apertures was the test perfomed?

Are any of the test RAW files available for download?
