5D focus and spot meter performance

I'm considering picking up a 5D and was wondeing what any current owners had to say about it's AF accuracy (not speed, I know it's somewhat slow) and how it's spot meter performs (is it truly a spot meter)? Any feedback on these two issues and any possible short commings would be greatly appreciated.
