lacie rugged and sandisk FW card reader cable
« on: March 05, 2008, 10:36:23 am »

my mother always warned me not to stick things into wholes without thinking, just because they seem to fit. I did it again...

just receved my sandisk FW800 reader and it comes with a strange cable that looks FW800 at the one end and FW400 at the other. me thinks: great, one cable less for the road, connect the lacie rugged disc through its FW800 port to my macbook's FW400 port.

bad thinking.

massive crash, need to restart (feels like windows), a few hours work lost. seems to be no damage though.

so it is a special cable, only for the card reader.

BTW: that thing is fast! with FW800 roughly 6x as fast as my old sandisk USB2.0 reader.

Can we assume that "wholes" is a misspelling of "holes" and not of "whores"? Your mother could have advised you against sticking things into either...
