. . . can you comment on the raw write times for the G7? A poster above stated that it may take a minute...is this your experience as well?
. . . can you comment on the workflow using these raw files from the G7? I believe that I've read that you can setup the G7 to write out the raw files as CRWs or CR2s...what difference would this make and how would raw converters like ACR interpret these files?
. . . can you comment on the quality of the G7 raw files as compared with the G9s raw files?[a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=178058\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a]
I use Sandisk Ultra II's and the write time is probably 3-4 seconds, although I have never timed it. The little blue write-to-card light flashes a couple of times and its over. I have yet to "wait" for the write process to finish, but then I do not shoot in bursts.
Yes, one can set the files to CRW or CR2. I convert them to DNG format and then use the DNGs in PS CS2 via ACR. One can use other de-coders such as RawTherapee as well. The CRWs or CR2s straight from the G7 cannot be read by ACR.
Can't comment on the difference between G7 and G9 RAW files, but I do find the G7 RAWs useful for fine tuning photos which would otherwise have been poorer quality in JPG format. What is interesting is that most "normal" RAW files vary slightly in file size depending on the subject matter. The G7 RAWs are all exactly the same file size, to the byte, which points to them being a straight sensor dump.
Hope this helps.
