Do you mean the thread on the camera or the bolt that goes into it? The bolt is easy 1/4 whitworth, the other you could if you dare get a tap and die set and re tap the hole, or get an engineering shop to do it and then get a fitting bolt and wing nut.Something I did on some screw down nutcrackers when the thread went in the wooden handle, was to fill the hole with something called chemical metal then put the threaded brass in and leave it until it set, it's been cracking nuts now for over 10 years without a problem. Welcome to the world of aluminum tripod threads. I put a helicoil that lasted for several months, but there's just not enough meat around the threads to really hold. A really bad design. The only camera I've ever stripped the threads on (twice). Ultimately you pretty much have to send it to Canon as the replacement is more complicated than it appears. Both Canon and independent repairmen have said the entire back of the camera has to come off. When you do get it fixed, invest in a plate system such as RRS so you won't be constantly using the cheap aluminum threads.[a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=168597\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a]
