I'm looking at a back for the Contax 645 and see a Sinar eyelike precision M22 Digital Back at B&H.
It's $1300 - any comments on this back?

Sinar did not make the M22 back. Jenoptik did. Jenoptik bought Sinar and Sinar distributed the last of the Jenoptik backs.
The back is a good quality back, but is at a temporary dead end. Eyelike stopped developing their software over a year ago, working with Sinar to develop a completely new generation of software that would be backwards compatible with both companies firewire backs.
The new software is called eXposure and is supposed to be released early in 2008. In the meantime your Eyelike software would be limited in use. They never came out with a version for Intel based chips, so you would be limited to a G4 laptop or a G5 tower.
If you have access to the earlier computers it is a good deal, but your computer upgrade path is limited until the new software ships.
