Dissable Autodownloader in Bridge CS3
« on: November 18, 2007, 01:35:12 pm »

I've tried to find the answer to this without success, maybe I'm missing something I don't know

When I insert a card into the card reader on my Dell PC Bridge Downloader starts. I don't want to use Bridge to import my images I want Lightroom to do it.

How do I stop the Bridge Downloader from starting? I've looked every where I can think of to disable it but with no luck

Suggestions would be welcomed

Thanks

On a Mac you go to BridgeCS3/Preferences/General and deselect the tic box next to "When a camera is connected, launch Adobe Photo Downloader".

Unfortunately that option is not shown in the PC dialogue

Thanks for the reply anyway

Maybe this will help:

I just found an answer for you! Apparently Bridge interacts with Windows in a different way. It is actually the Window settings that you have to change:

1) Insert your card into the reader and ignore Bridge.
2) Select menu Start => My Computer
3) Right+click the "Removable Disk" icon for your card and select Properties at the bottom of the menu.
4) Select the AutoPlay tab.
5) In the drop-down menu, select "Pictures"
6) Under "Actions", the "Select an Action to Perform" radio button is probably selected, and if you scroll the list of actions, you should see that "Download Images Using Bridge CS3" is highlighted.
7) Do ONE of these:
7.1) Select "Take No Action" at the bottom of the actions list - the same list that contains Bridge in 6) above.
