There is no mark-up, stocking fee or handling charge added. This program is valid for all customers who have purchased a Phase One back on or after October 9, 2007. The following camera platforms are included: Contax 645, Fuji GX 645 and GX 680, Hasselblad V and H1/H2, Mamiya 645 and RZ/RB.

Has Mamiya come out with a new lens or is this a mis-print - shouldn't it be the 75-150?

This strikes me as a slight discount from the back's MSRP -- no more than a 10% discount, and perhaps as little as 5%, if Phase is buying Mamiyas in bulk.

misprint...it should have been the 75-150 f4.5 zoom: the 55-110 is the older zoom.

wonder what that means for Mamyia?

As a Mamiya AFD/Phase One P45+ user, I should point out an error in this announcement. There is no "new 55-110" lens - the new one is 75-150 mm zoom. (Superb, incidentally.)

How do you rate your system? I am going to buy a refurbished P45 and cant decide what camera system to use. I would have like a Contax, but its hit and miss getting stuff second hand. I seem to favour the Hasselblad (no batteries, WLF) but how do you rate the mamiya?

Well, here's my story. I wanted the P45+ back but didn't want to commit too  much money on a camera system until the HY6 came out.  (I was a 6008 user for many years and still use a Rollei TLR occasionally.) So I chose Mamiya (a very nice deal from Phase) as it is much less of an investment than H'blad. I have used the Contax but found it very heavy and of course no longer made.

Since last December I have found the Mamiya a truly fine camera. Although I hear disparaging comments about Mamiya glass, I disagree - their lenses are just fine, as the "shoot out" on L-L shows.

As a result of shooting with the P45 for 9 months and the P45+ for three months, I decided to commit to the Mamiya system and have bought many of the lenses - the 35, 45, 55-110 and the 300 APO. I have just acquired the new 75-150 (very sharp) and the 28 mm.(gorgeous.)

The final clincher for me is the recently announced cooperation of Phase/Mamiya. I know Phase as a very fine company and unless the HY6 turns out to be extraordinarily good, beyond anything available, I shall stick with Mamiya.

I like the Mamiya, it's solid, the viewfinder is ok for me and deforms less than the H finder, focus is very accurate but stutters in low light. You need to feed the AFDII with 6 AA batteries every few weeks, and you need to switch on the back and the camera separately, this is the only real nuisance. If the shooting selector gets set to C accidentally the camera will overexpose the back.


As for lenses, my feeling i that my P45+ considerably outresolves the Mamiya 80mm lens I am using all the time.

Thanks for the replies. Can you tell me the maximum exposure time with the mamiya, does it have a B setting (and does that drain the batteries massively?). how does it perform in the cold?

The maximum metered exposure is 30 seconds. If you switch to Manual, there is a Bulb setting. It does use battery power but I don't know how much - I have only done exposures of a few minutes and there has been no problem with them.
