Locking White Balance
« on: October 23, 2007, 09:16:32 am »

While reading numerous articles on panoramic technique, including Michael's on this site, it is recommended to LOCK WHITE BALANCE.  I use a 1DS MKll and am aware that I can create a custom white balance or enter a specific Kelvin number.

Is there any way to read what the Automatic White Balance value is (Kelvin #)?

What work flow do you use in regards to White Balance while shooting Pano's?

Shoot RAW, and in addition to the quality advantages, WB is set during RAW conversion and you don't need to think about it while shooting. Shoot panos in manual mode with AF off and when converting, adjust one to taste and copy those conversion settings to the remaining images.
