New Leaf V11 release

Its nice to see Leaf is releasing V11 today. I also still don't see the Gain Adjuster in V11.

Leaf, are you guys really going to make the gain adjuster work in V11, or just tell me where working on it for the next few years?

Also, when will be the ability to control the Rollei Lens Control unit from the software be added (like what's in 8.4). I'd love to switch over, but it's too impractical to not be able to fire the camera from the software...

I purchase my Leaf back based on Leaf coming out with new working software, that was almost 1 1/2 ago. What gives Leaf? YaYa you don't even seem to have the respect to answer the question. The same question has been asked on Leaf-photography.com and still no real answer.

I still do not have a working solution for the gain with V8. I was told you where working on a solution for the gain, crating the magenta in highlights with the 24xl lens. This is a new problem that was not a problem before.

So far I've just installed 11 (the students will actually use it). But I do notice the same big problem I noticed with 10--you can't run Leaf Capture under a restricted ("Parental controls") account (OS-X)! So students have to use the computers as admins now, boo...

John I believe that I've answered this question before, but anyway now that LC11 is out, we plan on updating it more frequently and both the Rollei support and the gain adjustment (1 shot) are at the top of our list for features.
I cannot give an exact timeframe but these should happen before the end of the year.
The current Gain Adjuster (V 1.2 that was recently released) is improving the brightness and vignetting control.

I asked that same question to Leaf a few days ago, and they replied that they will indeed release Capture 11 for Windows. No time frame was mentioned though. Perhaps Yair has some more info on that.

Yair, limited account users can't install software... Nor do I recall an option upon install to allow other users to access it, as some software does. Also, the Parental Controls includes a list of approved applications--Leaf doesn't appear on the list automatically. When I add it manually, I get an error that the configuration I am attempting (giving the user access to Leaf) is not supported.

BTW, Leaf is the ONLY software I can think of that acts like this--Adobe CS3, Office, etc. etc. can be run by limited accounts. And Parental Controls offers supporting application files the ability to run, should that be the next thing to consider in our troubleshooting.

Mike this is the first time I hear this as we have more than one college using it, let alone other multi-user clients.

I suggest that you contact your dealer and let them run this case by our support team in Israel. We'll need to have more details as to how your system is set up.

Yair,

A possibility is to install the software at Administrative level and then have shortcuts to the user level.   That should probably work.    Just how apple deals with some of the permissions.   Also make sure all the permissions are set to read / write.

I hope so, I hope so, as I've been waiting for the full Rollei Shutter control for over a year now and I was disappointed when I saw that this version 11 doesn't yet fully support it.

So for me, it's back to Capture 8, sadly.

I used it today on a job and found one major problem. As you click between thumbnail images it doesn't refresh the seperate detachable preview window as it did on the previous rc versions.

No, none of my tricks work to make Leaf work under a limited account--I tried adding more options (allowing access to printers, System prefs), allowed the running of the Leaf utilities, moved the app to the Student user Applications folder, etc.

I checked Permissions for many of the items in the main folder and subfolders and they are already set to R/W for everyone.

It's obviously a Leaf Thing! So students will run as admins until I can pursue this through Calumet, etc.

Yesterday I discovered to my delight that 'command-T' will fire the camera as it does in v8.4. I had fired up LC11 to take advantage of the faster ISO for a shot and forgot about things. I hit the cmdT sequence as I'm accustomed to doing and it worked. So that being the case, I suppose I can live with setting shutter speeds / apertures directly from the controller... But it would be easier to do it from the software.
