Taken at a trade show - so not the best of conditions - and of course only jpeg's at the moment.  The real test will be when raw files become available and we can then see how much noise filtration has been done in camera.

.......... also got the following from another forum.  These are superb examples - but unfortunately too small to be able to really judge the noise.

Officially November.

Nikon are normally very slow out of the door with many new products backordered 2 years after launch.

In Europe I expect to be able to get hold of one in the middle or end of Q1, 2008.  If it's as good as people are suggesting then it might take longer with increased demand.

Most impressive photography - I never thought weddings could look that glamorous!

Glad I kept my Nikkors;  now, those lottery numbers I did this morning...

1DIII vs D3 high ISO comparisons (the server is slow, so be patient):

As landscape photographer with tons of (old) RVP 50 in the frezer, I do not really care about noise, but Nikon's color is always much nicer -- I shoot both 5D and D2x in additional to 4x5 and 6x7 film.  And Nikon's noise pattern is more film like -- less chroma noise, that is.  Different approaches, heavy on-chip NR, heavier AA filter © and NR in the in-camera processor (N).
