Custom White with the H3D back
« on: September 03, 2007, 02:55:58 pm »

I just recieved a Schneider 47 APO DIGITAR and did a quick test. What i found is a lot more cast than with my other LF lenses, and found it to be a good time to test the Custom White function.

When you view the two images, keep in mind that i have NOT:

white balanced
focused
used a centerfilter
etc.
etc.

It's just a test of the lens cast correction, and only this...

I found the process to apply custom white in flexcolor a bit cumbersome, where taking the images on the imagebank where no problem, but loading them with first applying the custom white involved loading the custom white image, applying this in the "exposure" dialogue in flex. Then importing the image that it is to be applied to, and resetting the CW before loading the next... etc.

I used a smooth glossy perspex plate approx the size of a A4 paper, and found this a bit small (my hands cast a shadow unless i hold it very precicely at the outer edge.) Also I overexposed the custom white correction shot by 3 stops.

(Image taken at 1/8@5.6, recommended range for lens is f8-11. Approx 28-32mm rise.)
