PhotoKit Sharpener only on CS3?

I'd really like to be able to use PhotoKit Sharpener with my images but I don't have Photoshop, and while NoiseNinja would be nice, it doesn't affect the quality of my images enough to warrant the disruption to my workflow or the extra cost.

my point is that the cost of PhotoKit Sharpener for me personally would be the combined costs of PhotoKit Sharpener and CS3 because it appears that PhotoKit Sharpener requires CS3 (or CS2).

does anyone know of a less expensive way to get PhotoKit Sharpener and a compatible version of Photoshop for OS X (Intel)?

Its priced at $40 and if you look around - you can get PSE for about $30 bucks!

You cannot beat it...however, if you still insist - all of their techniques can be manually applied - you just need to buy the Bruce Fraser's sharpening book.

Actually, that's not Sharpener...it's "PhotoKit" a series of actions that run a wider gamut of adjustments-it's only got a couple of sharpening series-and we've kinda end-of-lifed the proiduct because of the problems developing for Elements.

No, you can not use a plug-in for an application you do not have.

As posted, you can get the very basic version pretty cheap...

PS and NN are not programs, they do not run by themselves.  They not only 'require' photoshop, they are part of it.

Contrary to some peoples' beliefs, Noise Ninja is, in fact, a standalone program that will run without owning Photoshop. In order to get a license for the Photoshop plugin version, you also must license the standalone program. You can license the standalone version alone (no plugin) for $10 less.

are there any important functional differences between the various versions of Photoshop that will affect the final result on my images?

that said, I don't really have much choice. CS3 is the only Intel-Universal build available for OS X and when Leopard is released, the 64-bit memory access will significantly speed up CS3's operations where large images are concerned.

I wonder if anyone here in my region is selling their copy of CS3... (legally of course)
