No 'Open in ACR' Option in Bridge for DNG files
« on: July 15, 2007, 01:57:03 am »

There seems to be no option to 'Open in Camera RAW' direct from Bridge2 for DNG files, whilst CR2 files do have this option. The option is greyed out File / Open in Camera RAW and non-existent on the right click contextural menu.

Everything in fine for CR2 files, just not for DNG - I thought Bridge would 'see' DNG files as RAW files and behave the same.

This is a serious glitch in my DNG workflow and has only appeared since Bridge2.1 arrived. Previous versions had no problem.

Furthermore, I don't seem to be able to open as many RAW images into ACR4.1 as before. I used to be able to open 7-800 at a time but now it baulks at much over 100 or so.

Can someone explain why this is, or am I doing something wrong.

Reset your Bridge Preferences. Restart holding Command/Option/Shift (Mac) to reset them. Then flush the cache on that folder.

As for opening more than a hundred or so, that all depends on your ram available when Camera Raw is hosted by Photoshop since Photoshop has to share the ram. This was changed with Photoshop CS3 and Camera Raw 4. If you want to open several hundred, open Camera Raw hosted by Bridge instead of Photoshop. Same buttons, different button highlights.

Brilliant, thanks Jeff. That did the trick.

Much appreciated.

It seems this problem has recurred.

I'll use the fix as described but I am bit puzzled why this should keep happening. The folder correctly displays 2 of the DNG files with thumbs, HQ preview and metadata, but all the others are just icons and will not preview or display metadata. The 2 files successfully 'thumbed' also allow a right click 'Open in Camera RAW' option, the others do not.

I converted the CR2s into the same folder, as I usually do. maybe having the two formats together has confused Bridge.
