Hi
I am thinking of buying this lens instead of the 2.8 version. Mostly because it is lighter. Does anyone use extenders 1.4x or 2.0x with this lens.

I've used it with the 1.4 extender (on a 1D2 body) and I'm very pleased with the IQ. If you use it with the 2.0x extender, you'll loose the auto-focus unless you have a 1D body.

I also use it with the 1.4 extender and am very pleased.

I have used it with a Canon x2 extender and it worked better than I expected. However I have long since moved to the 2.8 for everything.

Thanks, I have just ordered this lens ( f/4.0 ) with the 1.4x extender.
