New decoding on VJ16
« on: July 07, 2007, 04:33:34 pm »

I have raised some thoughts on the download quality of the LLVJ which I thought was unwatchable on my projector due to enourmous judder.

Chriss had updated the process and uploaded the California part new and I just watched it and can say, it's not the DVD but TOTALLY excaptable for me.

I normally have a high quality demand and although the resolution is not that good, even on my big screen driven by a high end CRT projector the material is now very watchable.

I would like to thank Chriss and Michael for listening (although it took some time :-)) and making it much better.

Someday when time and bandwith allows I would love Chriss to experiment with 720x480@29,97 material or even WMV HD material.
But for the time being this is sufficiant, but PLEASE don't drop below the 29.97 anymore

If time allows please update the other parts of the downloads.

And again thanks for listening.

Thanks Frank - and yes, your requests & comments are noted and appreciated.

My current bet is that a truly High Resolution (as in HD-type) product will make its appearance in the next issue or so. Working with HDV material and  Apple's 422 codec within Final Cut Pro just got a whole bunch easier with the latest release. So I expect to leapfrog from the current size to a 1080 size. This _should_ be better than any current DVD using MPEG2 - but we will see.

That would be wonderful ofcourse.
Maybe for only the real stunning sequences, I don't really see the need for the interviews to be in HD, Although.......
