LIFE OF EPSON 9600
« on: June 29, 2007, 07:56:30 pm »

bought my betsie 3 yrs ago january price was $4900 delivered

over that period i went thru 25000 sq/ft of material mostly vinyl and
banner material

it died to day

i replaced 1 set of head 8 dampers 3 bumps and caping stations plus
about 15 chip sensors that make contact with the cartriges chip.

i decided to retire her instead of replacing the 2 nd head and 8 more
dampers.

all repairs where done by myself

heads cost $550 dampers i thing are $8 or $12 buks. chip sensors or $12
u do the math on what it cost to keep her running

for the first 6 months or so i used only epson inks then i swithed to
g&g inks found out that the reds and yellow sucked, went back to epsons
on those. also found out that the g&g cartriges dont fit correctly and
damage the chip sensor inside the printer ergo 15 chip sensors
replaced, still cheeper then epson inks. then found mis inks the yellow
and reds are great for what i do their empty cartighes also suck.

best price on don epson inks in cartriges g&g. next on reds and yellows
mis next for bulk inks micro enter. there reds are ok the yellow sucks

this epson will be using epson cartriges and refilling them after about
3 refills will get another epson cartrige. also mis and most all the
others that have chips about 3 in 10 are bad. i only had one epson chip
go bad on me

also found out that those clear refillable cartriges do the same damage
to the chip sensors. dont use them. finally made my own bulk ink system
and it worked great. cost was about $75

went shopping for a new printer decided on another epson this time a
7800 - 70 % of what i did was 24" or smaller the rest was over 44' and
i had to do a splice on them. ps i'm in the sign business

did some reserach on canon printers and found the inks are not water
proof. they will smear if they get wet also there more $ also found out
the heads on a canon need to replaced on or about 12000 pc of 8 x 10
sheets of paper thats a lot less then the 15000 sq/ft of material i got
out of my first set of heads on the epson. canons have 2 heads at $600
each. it was a no brainer went with the epson with rebates got a 7800
delivered for $2280.

used epson 9600 for sale orlando area needs about $700 in parts plus
inks. pickup only $900 obf comes with ps/cs , coreldraw 12, bible lite
repair manual for the epson on cd and my experience on walking u thru
the repair process if u want to tackle it.
