Lumedyne Batteries, dying after 2 years?
« on: June 02, 2007, 06:49:24 pm »

Curious what other Lumedyne (or even battery) folks know.
I bought 4 medium batteries just 2-3 years ago, moderate use, and they have all gone from giving 250+ flashes at 200 watts to just 100 flashes.

I've tested on different packs and different chargers so this is pretty accurate.

If I send it in to Lumdedyne, they will say the batteries test fine. But not on my tests

I have  a few of the medium batteries and they do seem to fall off
in terms of performance. I have also had quite a few problems with the chargers
so it maybe worth checking them. Are the green lights on the batteries still coming on?
A couple of colleagues who use them have told me of similar issues, might just be one
of those things. Lets be honest they aren't exactly state of the art tech are they!

Regards.

thanks Phil:
Well they are state of the art tech. Lumedyne is the best at what they do, and the claim there should be little fall off after two years of moderate use.  My two packs are pretty new. I may just have to send the whole kit in at once perhaps.  The first green light goes on, but usually not the second one which indicates total fullness.  (this drop off is over 50% )
