I am currently trying to decide between an Epson 3800 or a canon ipf5000 here in australia. I think the cannon is a better choice, it seams to have better build quality and be a more industrial strength machine. However my local canon dealer could not find any information about extending the warranty beyond 12 months, and when i rang canon i was told that I could buy an extended warranty for an additional 2 years as long as the printer was under $3000AU. This seamed very dodgey to me, i can just imagine myself having a problem in 18 months time and having canon say that the type of warranty i have doesnt actually cover my machine. So does anyone in australia have any more info about warranties? interestingly i was told that the print heads are covered for the first 12 months, which seams different to the US experience. I would just go out and buy an epson 4800 but for the ink swapping issue, i can see myself using a lot of different papers.
cheers
