I am finally looking at moving to a DSLR. I am an amateur that shoots primarily nature, landscapes, and macros. Although, I imagine that I may shoot more family events since I won’t need to worry about film and processing.
Here is where I am coming from:
Canon 1v
16-35L 2.8
28-70L 2.8
70-200L 2.8
180 macro
Epson 2200 printer
I have been printing anything larger than a 4x6, at home. My largest prints are 12x18.
I was expecting to buy a Canon EOS 5d when I received my stock option payout after being laid off last fall. I started to read current info on the camera again at that time, and saw that it may have been pulled from manufacturing. Rumors mentioned of a possible announcement at PMA, so I decided to wait. It looks like there will be nothing announced or available in the near term.
What kinds of things would you expect to see changed on the new version of the 5d? Would they be valuable enough to wait for?
Two things I really like on the 1v:
100% viewfinder (1v)
Lack of dial for shooting modes (1v)
How does the 5d perform at iso 50?
Someone at a store here mentioned that my 16-35 will not be sharp on the edges on the any of the DSLRs. Is that accurate?
As a replacement for the 5d becomes available, how low will the cost of the 5d drop?
Is there any market for a used 1v? What would be the best avenue for trying to sell it?
Thanks for your help and advice.
