DPP 3.0 was apparently released this morning.  I found it at Canon Downloads

and found the news at EOS Pro News.

i downloaded the update and the user manual. I haven't gone into the program to see what is different but i wanted to print the manual.

However, for some reason, i'm unable to print the DPP pdf file. Has canon restricted the printing of the pdf file (the option to print is greyed out)??  I absolutely hate reading manuals on the screen and prefer to read a paper copy. Is there any way around this ??

I have no problems printing the manual.  I'm using the Adobe Acrobat Reader 7.09 on Windows XP.

i'm using Adobe 7.0 on XP.  Does that make a diff???

Is it DPP v.3.0 that you were able to print??  bcoz i did try and download the manual for previous versions (2.0 and 2.2), which are printable.

I've tried to download v. 3.0 around 5 times now, but am unable to print the file.  In the properties section for the file, under security, it says printing is not allowed.

Yes, DPP 3.0.  It does say "Windows" in the upper right corner of the title page.  Under File, Document Properties, it shows Printing is Allowed, and all others (Document Assembly, Content Copying or Extracting, etc.) are not allowed.

I tried to use DPP 3.0 on my Mac, but it could not display images?! I did show file names and types, but no image, regardless of if raw or jpeg (My raw files are Canon's .cr2). If I double clicked to edit, the program would crash. I tried to uninstall and reinstall it, but in vain. I finally uninstalled 3.0 and reinstalled DPP 2.2 and it works fine. I found only one post on the web with the same problem, but no one has posted a solution yet. Anyone here with the same experience?

Try to delete the old preference file (~/Library/Preferences/com.canon.Digital Photo Professional.plist). It did for me but unfortunately, DPP 3.0 crashed a couple of times for no reason.

Well I can see that the interface is essentially unchanged! Still as clunky as all getout.
It's too bad that they could not look around at their competitors and get a decent, more flexible interface. It's really too bad because I love the color and look of the files I get from DPP -- but the interface and slow conversions drive me mad. The new one does appear to convert faster though...

Anyone know if DPP 3.0 can use the "Large (Look Up Table)" type monitor profiles?
DPP 2.x can only use the small (Matrix) type.

p

ps: Large or Small monitor calibration profile is a setup option in Eye-One Match v3.6.1.
