Hi Mike,

Just to say that your current home page pic really, really works for me. Beautifully observed. It immediately reminded me of the historical image made during, I think from memory, Amundsen's expedition to the south pole. I saw an original print of this image at first hand from the Hulton Getty archive some years ago at a Photo buyers trade fair in London. It's the one taken from within an icy cave looking out to the expedition ship beyond. I remember being amazed at the latitude in that image whereby the interior of the cave as well as the distant scene were both beautifully exposed. I wondered if you made any connection to that image when you observed this scene?

Anyway, there is also, to me, a profound ecological symbolism in your image. That of the fragility of the fractured ice in contrast to the majesty of the landscape beyond. Maybe I'm reading too much into it but the graphic simplicity does it for me. Good stuff!

Thanks for your comment.

No, no corrections were made. It's a minimally adjusted exposure.
