Adobe [not] Technical Support for the UK
« on: August 17, 2026, 08:34:53 am »

I have recently had an issue of Creative Cloud deleting my two Acrobat apps after updating my Mac OS to the latest version.

This aside, it appears that Adobe have outsourced their technical and customer support to a company in India.  My recent experiences with them have been nothing short of AWFUL.

Even having selected the technical support option from the telephone menu the call centre operative at the other end says that they “are not in a position to help [me]”. With a technical support issue.  Having asked them to escalate my particular problem (no Acrobat apps and no way to install them) I then talk to a “senior technical support” person who claims that the issue is nothing to do with Adobe.  The person makes wild and false unsubstantiated claims, refuses to believe that I even have an issue and then, after I insist that this be escalated, demands that I send an email “with evidence”.

I send the email with evidence and I get an email back with a link to Adobe’s “wish list” forum.  I respond by asking why have I received this email.

The “senior technical support” person then phones me saying that they “cannot”[sic] escalate the issue within Adobe to their engineering team and that I have to make a request on Adobe’s “wish list” page.  I say that it is not my responsibility to file yet another report it is this “senior technical support” person’s responsibility to escalate it within Adobe.  I am not here to do their work for them, I say.  “This is not how it works” says the “senior technical support” person.  Actually, nothing works; it seems.

On a recent previous occasion I phoned Adobe with an unrelated technical support issue which apparently could only be “resolved” by tripling my subscription charges even though it was a technical issue not one related to subscription.  I have a full and up-to-date subscription to Creative Cloud.

God help us.

This is absolutely dreadful.  It never used to be like this.

Hello Simon. Off topic, but still very much on it regarding the modern way of handling customer relations.

Some time ago, Weebly (my website host) changed its name to include the word square. Naturally enough, the automatic subscription renewal for the site failed to go through. Weebly sent me some communications regarding the failure, which I took to be fake, as earlier renewals had been faultless, and I had no idea about their change of name.

To cut a long story short, I spent an hour-and-a-half on the phone one morning with the card company, being pushed from one incompetent to another, several of them speaking a heavily accented version of English that I simply couldn’t understand. One actually gave me a telephone number to try calling in order to resolve my problem. Eventually, I was switched to a girl who spoke faultless English, and within three minutes she’d fixed my problem, even asking me to verify by turning on my computer and checking my website. Hooray!

The telephone number that I’d been given to try: it turned out to be the same darned number that I’d rung in the first place!

You’d couldn’t make this shit up.

Amen to that. We all better start to speak and understand English with a heavy Indian accent!

Ditto. I recently went through a similar experience with United Airlines. Heavy Indian accent, impossible to follow. Hung up and tried again 2 more times. Different agent each time, same Indian accent. So, I sent a snail-mail to United Airlines Corporate. No reply to that in 3 weeks now. On a different issue, different company, I got a fellow in Nigeria. Perfect accent (British), competent, friendly, and very effective.

Back in the Nineties, when outsourcing customer service was really getting started, there was a prediction that Chile would reign supreme because they had a large population of educated English speakers, a cheap economy, and were located well with the USA time zones. So much for predictions.
