Somewhere USA?

Hi all,

Driving the 365 miles from Sedona to Moab and somewhere en route, as we sped through the desert,  I happened to see these rock formations at the side of the highway on my left. So I stopped the car, jumped out and from the side of the road, I quickly grabbed this large, handheld multi-shot pano of the scene and thought no more about it and continued to drive onto our destination.

But then we got home and I started to process the files. I thought, mm, that's a nice shot and what beautiful clouds. But then I also noticed, how this formation (to my eye at least), looked like an ancient giant mud slide, had flowed right up to the edge of the rocks beneath, but which didn't quite have the force to flow over the top of it. But instead had become frozen and petrified into stone over time.

Which might be a load of twaddle of course, as I am sure these rock structures did not form in this way at all. But it does look like they did imho..

So just a drive-by shooting really. But one I am very happy with none the less 

...and as I mentioned in an earlier post, we were amazed at how verdant (lush, green, flowery abundance etc) the deserts can be in America in spring.

Sort of. Bit by bit with cycles of moisture, freezing, cracking, and wind.
Gorgeous image. i would clone out the fence posts in the bottom right, but they are not that noticeable.

Yes I thought of doing that and all the wires that attach to them. But as you say, they are not really that noticeable and other than showing the image to you guys on here, no one else will ever see it. So even though I am sure it could be easily done with the clone tool, I decided to leave it "as is".

But yes they are there, so well spotted

The barb wire fence is part of the provenance of the image and in the future, centuries from now, will help put the photograph in the context of time.

Some times it's best to leave things alone.
