Epson 9570 Clogged matt ink
« on: May 21, 2026, 03:47:07 pm »

Hello. Has anyone had this problem? Where half of the matte black is clogged. If I open the machine and wipe down the caps and then do a power cleaning, it shows not clogged for about three minutes and then goes back to this. Any idea on how to fix this?

Hmm, this is probably useless info but if this were an HP I'd say it looks like the head chamber is running out of ink (basically full of air), so either some kind of ink delivery issue or the usual air leakage into the line/head that occurs over time.

But I don't know if any of that is relevant to the Epson 9570. But a large section of head nozzles repeatedly going blank after a few mins of printing looks to me like no ink in head.

The way that test patch is split in two -- one half ok the other almost blank -- makes me wonder if the head uses some kind of dual-chamber design.

Sorry that's no help with fixing it tho. Hopefully you don't need a new head, I hear the costs are crazyyy for Epson heads.

Try to change the Self Selling Valve (dumper).

oof that doesn't look great.  The heads in those machines have multiple of what I think epson refers to as "blades" (which are really independent single-channel heads within a larger head carriage) and there are two per channel-- it looks like one of the two for MK is totally F'd.  By your description it doesn't sound like it's the head itself, but it could be a damper issue like Nitzsche said, but replacing that is no small feat.  When you check the capping station, is there any damage to one of the seals?  I kind of wouldn't expect so if it comes back after a power cleaning.  I believe that the ink lines are split off from a single tube at the head and that each blade has its own damper.  It kind of seems like the one for that part of the head isn't filling symmetrically, which could mean it's not sealing well, which could then mean it needs to be replaced, reseated, or there's some other reason air is getting into the chamber.  After doing the power cleaning are you doing nozzle checks for 3 minutes, or are you actually trying to make a print and it drops out again after 3 minutes?
