GUI for ArgyllCMS Paper Profiling
« on: May 09, 2026, 03:40:02 pm »

For those who use the free ArgyllCMS suite of programs to do paper profiling, Sebastian Reiprich has created graphical user interfaces (GUI) that run on both the Mac OS and Windows. Windows version is still in beta development and was created using Claude Code (finally a great use of AI ;D). I've been testing the Windows version over the past several days and it does everything that I need it to do in terms of paper profiling. I have been using ArgyllCMS for 15 years now and have profiled around 100 different papers for myself and some friends.  It's a good approach to profiling but in native form requires a knowledge of command line use for it to work. Sebastian's project makes it much easier. You do need to have ArgyllCMS installed on your computer. The project, CromIQ is here: https://github.com/itsab1989/ChromIQ

Thanks for the information Alan!

I have been making my own profiles using Colormunki Photo for about fifteen years and I have never had colour issues with any of my clients in all that time.
It is very cold, windy and wet at the moment so I thought I would keep myself busy trying something new.

I tried for two days to download the software from the link you gave with no success - the page loading just kept timing out. Anyway, on one of the pages on their site I noticed that the AI “Claude” was involved so I though I would ask Claude for help…
which brings me to the point of this post. Claude got me to try all the links that I had already tried and when none of the worked I received this:
"if you're comfortable with Terminal, the easiest method on a Mac is actually Homebrew:

Well, I am not really “comfortable” with Terminal but thought I’d give it a go. To cut a long story short, it was an amazing experience!
I was walked through the whole procedure, including me copying and pasting Terminal replies to Claude who would then tell me how to continue.

I have printed my first two-page target and will continue making the profile tomorrow... ;D
