z3100ps - printing on rolls

Does anyone know if there is a way to stop the z3100 from spitting out the entire length of roll (or whatever you set the length to) when it finishes the print?

for example if I load a new roll of 24"x100' paper, and I only want to print a couple of 8x10's then using Qimage I am going to space it to use about 9" of the roll if the two prints are side by side across the width

But I need to give the paper a size, and if I put in a generic 24x40" for example, then after the printer has finished the two prints, it then spits out the rest of length of paper, i.e. 31" of blank, which I then have to use the front panel to move the paper back in again. (was a lot worse when I had auto cut enabled! had a lot of scraps of paper I was trying to re-use)

I want to have the printer just stop when it finishes a print, so I can press the manual cutter button if I want. or start another job

you have to setup a custom size that covers the image sizes but is not too big. I have been using Qimate and an HPZ3200 for years and it is certainly possible. Set the width and length of the paper to a couple of inched bigger than the images and it will work. Setup print preview in the print driver and you can see how it will look with it prints. This can save a lot of paper when you make a mistake.

I dunno how Qimage works but if you want to print 8x10s don't you just tell it to print 8x10? Like why does it also need a 2nd paper sheet size in addition to the image size.

When I print from PS the driver interface lets me create/save custom print sizes. Then the the printer auto-nests them onto the roll (the nesting isn't always optimum tho). So if you spool some 8x10s it should put 2 across the roll (landscape), or maybe 8 across (portrait, with borderless).
