Valley cottonwoods

The cottonwoods have some nice color now. I came to this nearby location (20 minutes by 4x4) at sunrise yesterday and it was socked in with clouds and fog. So I tried to work with those elements instead of the big vista with fall color I was here for.



But I wanted the big view with nice light so I returned in the evening when conditions looked promising. It was a beautiful evening.

Both are very nice but for me the first one is poignant. There's a sense of solitude and almost a need for help.

Thanks for the thoughtful comment! Interesting you say that when I am actually concerned for the tree and area. It's one of those places in danger of being loved to death.
But I was also just putting together the elements I had to work with so that feeling in the image wasn't overtly intentional.
