A few years back, I read on a website that Canon would discontinue the inks for the 8300, 8400 and 9400 printers at the end of 2025. Earlier this year, I posted that it looked like this was true as B&H was selling certain colors at closeout prices. Eventually, some inks were "backordered" and I had to buy some slightly out of date inks to keep running. Recently however, the inks are now back in stock and when I order them, they are in a new white box (old boxes were brown) with expiration dates into 2027. They are also priced like the other current Canon inks. I wonder if they changed their mind or if they will still discontinue these inks?
I also had the super crazy idea that maybe the new "more archival" inks of the new Canon printers are really just the old "more archival" inks of the 8300 and 8400 series and that they may continue to sell inks for my 8300. We'll see...
